About the Topic:

South Korea is a small Asian country, but ranks significantly in U.S. history. What do we really know of this ancient culture besides political saber rattling, the 2018 Winter Olympics, and exports proving it to be an economic powerhouse with a Cinderella story? Travel through Seoul, “The Miracle on the Han”, and other highlights around the peninsula with Mariya Fogarasi, who spent four years on an American army post and had the opportunity to pass between two different worlds and cultures brought together by fate.

About the Speaker:

Mariya was two years old when her father was assigned to Ford of Germany in Cologne. They spent eight years there and Mariya has been traveling ever since. In 1989, she married her husband, a foreign service officer, and moved to Toronto, Canada; Sofia, Bulgaria; Budapest, Hungary; Berlin, Germany and Seoul, South Korea.

Mariya’s goal is to make her audience feel as though they are traveling with her and experiencing the various destinations firsthand. Her second wish would be that her talks enable her audience to travel, learn, see, and enjoy what she has been able to experience.
